The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has unveiled a 25-member squad for the second phase of its national core camp, narrowing down from the initial 52 players who were divided into four teams and competed in a double round-robin format. The selection was made based on performances in the camp as well as recent domestic tournaments.
Rohit Paudel continues to lead the squad as captain. Promising leg-spinner Yuvraj Khatri earns a spot in the camp, joined by pace bowlers Nandan Yadav and Rupesh K Singh. Other new additions include Kiran Thagunna and Shubh Kansakar, while experienced wicketkeeper-batter Dilip Nath makes a return after a significant absence.
Notable omissions from the squad include Kushal Malla, one of Nepal’s prominent all-rounders, along with Kamal Singh Airee and Ishan Pandey. Pandey’s exclusion raised eyebrows, as he had recently scored a century in both the PM Cup and the first phase of the core camp.
CAN recently announced the national team’s tour of the United Kingdom, followed by a series of CWC League 2 matches in Scotland.
The UK tour will also mark the first assignment for newly appointed head coach Stuart Law, who will be keen to assess the players and build a competitive unit for the crucial matches ahead.
