Nepali cricketer Aadil Alam has officially been cleared of all charges related to spot-fixing and is now eligible to return to both national and international cricket. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) made the announcement today in a press release, confirming that Alam’s ban has been lifted following a thorough review by its Integrity Committee

Alam was arrested in January 2023 by Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) over allegations of spot-fixing during the 2022/23 Nepal T20 League. Following his arrest, he was immediately banned from participating in all forms of cricket under CAN’s jurisdiction, both domestically and internationally.

However, in March 2023, the investigation concluded with insufficient evidence to support the accusations. Citing this and the subsequent procedural review, CAN stated that the Integrity Committee had taken all the necessary steps before making the decision to reinstate the allrounder.

“The CAN Integrity Committee followed due process and, based on the findings, the ban on Aadil Alam has been lifted. He is now free to represent Nepal and take part in domestic tournaments,” read the official CAN statement.

Aadil has represented Nepal in six ODIs and eight T20Is. He was regarded as a valuable asset in T20 cricket because of his role as a fast-bowling all-rounder and a finisher capable of playing impactful, aggressive innings.
