Nepal’s star cricketer, Sandeep Lamichhane, has been awarded a Grade A central contract by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for the year 2024. This contract is valid from July 1 to December 31, 2024.
The decision was made during CAN’s central committee meeting on Thursday. CAN also congratulated Lamichhane for becoming the first bowler from Nepal to achieve 100 T20I wickets.
The Grade A players will receive a monthly salary of NRS. One Lakhs. Skipper Rohit Paudel, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC and Sompal Kami are in category A.

Initially, Lamichhane was not awarded the central contract due to an ongoing court case. However, on May 15, the Patan High Court acquitted him in the rape case. Following the acquittal, CAN lifted Lamichhane’s suspension on the same day, making him available for the T20 World Cup.
Lamichhane was twice denied a US visa and missed the first two matches. However, he managed to play a couple of games in the Caribbean, where he bowled well.
The star leg-spinner took a couple of wickets against Bangladesh, becoming the second-fastest bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets. He achieved this milestone in 54 matches, second only to Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan who did it in 53 games.
