Nepal is scheduled to play against Sri Lanka in their second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. This will mark Nepal’s first-ever encounter with Sri Lanka in international cricket, as they have not previously faced the Lankan side in either the ODI or T20I formats.
Sri Lanka will be Nepal’s 24th opponent in T20I cricket. Additionally, Sri Lanka will be the fifth test-playing nation that Nepal faces in a T20I match, as Afghanistan was not a test-playing nation when they last played.
The Rhinos have previously played against Bangladesh, Ireland, Zimbabwe. In the last Asia cup, they faced the Asian powerhouse India and Pakistan. Hong Kong was Nepal’s first opponent in T20I during the T20 World Cup 2014 followed by Bangladesh and Afghanistan. In the 86 T20I match played, Nepal has won 35 matches.
The match will be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida and starts at 5:15 AM (Nepal Time) on Wednesday, June 12.

The Nepalese side suffered a narrow defeat against the Netherlands in the first game of the tournament. The Dutch side were victorious by six wickets, chasing 110 runs.
Nepal will then fly to the Caribbean for the remaining two group-stage matches. Sandeep Lamichhane will also join the team there and play the remaining match, CAN has already confirmed.
