The Nepal national cricket team suffered a loss in their first practice match in South Africa on Thursday. Scotland defeated Nepal by seven-wicket at Tuks Oval in Pretoria.
Chasing a target of just 136 runs, Scotland successfully reached the milestone in the 30th over, losing only three wickets in the process.
Despite the Nepalese fast bowlers taking three early wickets, it was Richie Berrington and Brandon McMullen who caused significant damage to the Nepal team. Sompal Kami picked up the first wicket, whereas Gulshan Jha dismissed McBride and then Geroge Munsey in the very next ball to bring Nepal into the contest.
Scotland were 33 for three at one stage; however, Berrington and McMullen shared a remarkable century partnership to guide their team to victory. McMullen scored 59* whereas Berrington added 43* runs.
Earlier, Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal could only manage 135 runs in 28.5 overs.
Kushal Malla top scored with 37 runs. He smacked four boundaries and two sixes in a 26-ball knock. Aasif Sheikh contributed 28 runs from 36 balls. Kushal Bhurtel made 16, while Dipendra Singh Airee assisted 13 runs. Other batters couldn’t cross double-digit scores.
Jack Jarvis and McMullen picked up three wickets each for Scotland. Fast bowler Sharif also pocketed two wickets.
