Nepal national cricket team has booked a place in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. They defeated UAE in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup final on reserve day by seven wickets to secure a spot in the event.
Nepal will now join India and Pakistan in the Group A of Asia Cup 2023 set to be held in September. A few rumours have popped out about the cancellation of Asia Cup; however, no official statement is out yet.
Monday’s play was called off after a persistent rain while UAE were dismantled to 106 for the loss of nine wickets in 27.3 overs. The play resumed from the same state on reserve day (Tuesday), and Nepal managed to bowl out UAE in 33.1 overs for 117 runs.
In reply, the home side chased a target in 30.3 overs.
Nepal has become the eighth nation to feature in Asia Cup after India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UAE and Hong Kong.
Moreover, Nepal, along with UAE and Oman, are already confirmed to play ACC Emerging Cup, becoming the top three teams of the Premier Cup. India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A and the top three teams of the Premier Cup will battle in the tournament.
