The Nepalese team registered a comprehensive win against Scotland on Tuesday night in the CWC League 2 match in USA. Nepal emerged victorious by five wickets to bag the second win of the campaign.
Electing to bowl first, Nepal showed a brilliant bowling display and wrapped up Scotland for 154 runs. Karan KC picked up a wicket in a very first over and Nepalese bowlers didn’t gave any chance to Scottish batters to build a partnership as they were 88/6 in the 27th over.
Mark Watt who came to bat at number eight top scored with 34 runs. Similarly Richie Berrington and Michael Jones made 19 runs each.
Sandeep Lamichhane was a pick of bowler for Nepal grabbing three wickets. He ended up with a figure of 10-1-45-3. Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha and Karan KC picked up two wickets each whilst Aarif Sheikh pocketed one wicket.
In response, Nepal chased the target in 29.5 overs, losing five wickets. Aarif Sheikh was the star of the chase with a powerful half-century.
Nepal were 63/4 at one stage, losing Anil Sah (13), Aasif Sheikh (21), Kushal Malla (7) and Rohit Paudel (1). Kushal Bhurtel departed after scoring a well-made 25 as Nepal lost fifth wicket for 100 runs. Aarif Sheikh and Gulshan Jha then shared an unbeaten 57 runs to ensure Nepal’s victory. Aarif scored a quick 42-ball 51 which changed the context of a match. That’s why he was adjudged Player of the Match. Gulshan also added crucial 25 runs as Nepal finished the match in 29.5 overs.
Brandon McMullen picked up two wickets whereas other three bowlers picked up one wicket each.
This is Nepal’s second victory in the ten matches in CWC League 2 campaign. They are second from the bottom in the table.
